Police have arrested 9 people, including the ward Awami League president and warrant accused, in Gazaria, Munshiganj.

They were sent to jail on Tuesday (December 10) afternoon. Earlier, they were arrested in separate places in the upazila after conducting raids overnight on Monday.

The arrested are Haji Ahmed Ullah, son of Mofiz Uddin of Kazipura village in Gazaria union of the upazila. He was the president of Ward No. 3 Awami League of that union. He was arrested in a murder case at the Sadar Police Station of the district. On the other hand, the deceased Mofiz Uddin of Daulatpur village of Imampur union has four sons, Moazzem Hossain Ferdous Sarkar, Manik Mia, Selim Mia and three sons, wife Shahanur Begum Popi Begum and Farzana Begum. All of them are warrant accused in a case. On the other hand, Palash Gazi was arrested from Sholaani village of Imampur union with one kilogram of marijuana. He is the son of Shah Alam of Sholaani village.

Confirming the truth of the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Gazaria Police Station Mahbubur Rahman said that the arrested were sent to jail on Tuesday afternoon.
