Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.), Advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Agriculture in Khulna, said that the situation of stagnation in the work of law enforcement agencies after August 5 has improved greatly. However, it is not sufficient as per the demands of the people. If we all try together, it is definitely possible to overcome this. Although operations have been carried out to recover the weapons looted from many police stations in the past, the expected number of weapons have not been recovered so far. Since the recovery of these is related to the improvement or deterioration of the law and order situation, it is urgent to increase the speed. There is a tendency among the common people to take the law into their own hands in the name of mob justice. If someone is a criminal, he must be handed over to the police. The police will not be able to arrest anyone in plain clothes. Care should also be taken that no innocent person is unnecessarily harassed by the police. Again, it should be properly monitored that no guilty person gets a break. Government employees should not get involved in politics. Bribery is a major disease of society and the state. If it is not stopped, it will be very difficult to change the situation in the country. Financial transactions in recruitment and transfer in law enforcement forces including the police must be stopped. The chief guest said all these things in his speech at the law and order exchange meeting at the auditorium of the Khulna District Shilpakala Academy on Monday afternoon. The Home and Agriculture Advisor also said, it is sad but true that many media outlets in our neighboring countries are creating false stories and spreading misinformation. The media outlets of our country must highlight the real facts. Only then will their untruthful propaganda be visible to everyone. Do not spread rumors under any circumstances. Our country has always been a country of communal harmony. There is no majority or minority here, we are all Bangladeshis. The law is equal for everyone. This year, Durga Puja was celebrated across the country without any incident. He also said that there is a rise in the prices of soybean oil, potatoes and onions in the market. The duty on soybean oil import has been reduced to five percent. Due to the high price of potatoes, middlemen are benefiting more than farmers. The government is working properly to keep the prices of daily necessities stable before the upcoming Ramadan. The meeting was addressed as special guests by Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Baharul Alam, Khulna Naval Area Commander Rear Admiral Golam Sadeq, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, Director General of Rapid Action Battalion AKM Shahidur Rahman, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar, Commander of 105 Infantry Brigade of Bangladesh Army Brigadier General Ahmed Tanvir Mazhar Siddiqui, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Zulfiqar Ali Haider, DGFI Colonel Syed Asaduzzaman, Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam and Khulna Police Superintendent TM Mosharraf Hossain. The function was presided over by DIG of Khulna Range Police Md. Rezaul Haque. The meeting was attended by officials from the Armed Forces Division, Khulna Range Police, police units of all districts in the range, Khulna Metropolitan Police, Rapid Action Battalion, BGB, Coast Guard, Ansar and VDP, Prisons Department, Fire Service and Civil Defense Department, Immigration and Passport Department, Narcotics Control Department and civil administration, student representatives of the anti-discrimination movement and various religious leaders. In the afternoon, the advisor joined a view-exchange meeting with officials of departments/organizations under the Ministry of Agriculture in the Khulna region at the office of the Additional Director, Khulna Agricultural Extension Department.
