Fire Service and Civil Defense celebrates International Volunteer Day

The Fire Service and Civil Defense celebrated International Volunteer Day-2024.
On Thursday, December 5, at 9 am at the Fire Service Multipurpose Training Ground in Purbachal, Narayanganj, Honorable Advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.), inaugurated the International Volunteer Day-2024 as the chief guest.
Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal, NDC, AFWC, PSC, Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Department, was present at the event.
Earlier, the registration of volunteers from different places started at 7 am. The chief guest, Honorable Advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.), inaugurated the International Volunteer Day-2024 by releasing balloons.
In his speech, the Director General recalled the contribution of the volunteers and said, “We have seen your courageous participation in the Rana Plaza building collapse in 2013, the Churihatta Chemical accident in 2019, the FR Tower fire accident, the BM Container Depot fire accident in 2022, and the Bangabazar and Khaja Tower fire accidents in 2023. Your volunteer spirit and fearless participation are playing an important role in the times of disaster for the country and the nation.
After the discussion, the advisor answered various questions from the journalists. Then, a colorful procession began with the volunteers and officers and employees.
After participating in the procession, Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal, Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Department, presented certificates of recognition and crests to 22 volunteers in recognition of their cooperation in firefighting and operational activities.
