There is no Shaheed Minar in the ancient educational institutions of Munshiganj
Mohammad Selim, Munshiganj
There is no Shaheed Minar in the two ancient primary educational institutions of Munshiganj Municipality. As a result, the young students are being deprived of acquiring knowledge about the significance of the Bengali language movement. Many people believe that if there was a Shaheed Minar in the premises of the educational institution, the students could have easily learned about it.
To spread the light of education in this town, educationist Abdul Hakim Bikrampuri built the Munshiganj Government Primary School in his own place in Ward No. 1 of Munshiganj Municipality around 1935 during the British era. It is an ancient educational institution in the city. And 50 hands away from it, 15 years later, he built the “Kotgaon Government Primary School” in his own place in Ward No. 5 of Munshiganj Municipality around 1950 during the Pakistan era. But there is no Shaheed Minar in these two schools. Earlier, girls used to study in Munshiganj Government Primary School. And boys used to study in Kotgaon Government Primary School. However, with the passage of time, now both boys and girls are studying in both of them. There is no restriction in the past. Much later, Abdul Hakim Bikrampuri established “Kazi Kamaruddin Institution Gov. School” in the name of his father at the secondary level in front of Munshiganj Government Primary School. Although this institution is built on a large area, only 5 percent of the land allocated for Munshiganj Government Primary School is available. As a result, after coming down from the stairs of this school, teachers and students have to move through the boundaries of Kazi Kamaruddin Institution Gov. School. A new building here is the need of the hour. The guardians here have strongly demanded that this matter be considered. 5 teachers including the headmaster are working here. The list of headmasters was not available here from the beginning. However, Shanta Rani Das last joined as the head teacher on January 11, 2018. The total number of students here is 302. Meanwhile, Kotgaon Government Primary School is built on 21 percent of the space. It has a two-story building. Since there is a gate here, students cannot leave suddenly. There are 7 teachers including the head teacher working here. There are 280 students here. Although there is more space here, there is no Shaheed Minar. Shanta Rani Das, head teacher of Munshiganj Government Primary School, said that if a multi-story building is built here, the room crisis will be solved. Munshiganj Sadar Primary Education Officer Md. Abdul Momin Mia said that out of 115 educational institutions in Sadar, 27 educational institutions do not have any Shaheed Minar. However, Shaheed Minar will be built in the remaining educational institutions in phases.
