Adv. Saiful Islam’s last farewell was attended by Hasnat, Sarjis and Chattogram Jamaat Ameer Shahjahan

The first funeral was held at the Chittagong court premises on Wednesday (November 27) morning. Lawyers, leaders of social organizations and people from different classes and professions participated in it. Before the funeral, lawyer leaders spoke and demanded the speedy arrest and trial of those involved in Saiful’s murder.

Then, the funeral was held at the Jamiatul Falah Mosque ground at around 11:30 am. Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, and Sarjis Alam, general secretary of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation, went to Chattogram to attend his funeral.

Last Tuesday (November 26), Saiful Islam was hacked to death during a movement demanding the release of Principal Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatani Jagran Jote.

In this incident, Chittagong lawyers announced a program to boycott the court on Wednesday. In addition, law enforcement agencies have launched a raid and arrested at least 20 people, including five others. Investigations are underway to uncover the reasons behind the murder and bring the culprits to justice.
