A government lawyer lost his life during a clash between police and his followers while sending “Sanatan Jagran Mancha” spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das to jail.

The incident took place in Chattogram  Adalatpara on Tuesday (November 26).

Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital Director Brigadier General Mohammad Taslim Uddin confirmed the lawyer’s death.

He also said that six injured people are undergoing treatment at CMC. The bodies have been kept in the morgue of the emergency department.

According to CMC Hospital, police and court sources, the deceased lawyer’s name is Saiful Islam. He is the son of Jalal Uddin of Lohagara Upazila in Chittagong. He was working as an assistant public prosecutor at the Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

Hospital Director Taslim Uddin said that 6-7 people who were injured in the clash at the Chittagong court were brought to CMC Hospital. One of them was brought dead.

Hospital sources said that Saiful had multiple injuries from sharp weapons on his body.

Lawyers protested against the stabbing of a lawyer during a clash between the followers of Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatani Jagran Jote, and the police in Chittagong.

At the same time, they demanded the arrest of the followers of Chinmoy Krishna Das involved in the incident. They also demanded the banning of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in Bangladesh.

On Tuesday (November 26), lawyers of the Chittagong court held a protest procession in front of the Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital at around 6:30 pm. At that time, they raised various slogans demanding the arrest of the followers of Chinmoy Krishna Das and the banning of ISKCON in Bangladesh.

Chittagong court lawyer —Advocate Musharraf Hussain Khan told The Daily Morning Glory, “The followers of ISKCON and Chinmoy Krishna Das grabbed lawyer Saiful Islam from the court area and took him to the nearby Rangam Tower. There, he was stabbed and injured around 4 pm. He was taken to (CMC) Hospital in a serious condition, but the doctor declared him dead. In addition to arresting the followers of Chinmoy Das involved in this incident, ISKCON should be banned in Bangladesh. Otherwise, Chittagong lawyers will announce a continuous program.
