A Bangladeshi worker named Rubel Mia (19) was killed in a coal quarry collapse in India.
On Tuesday, around 10:15 AM, the other workers who were with the coal mining rescued the dead worker’s body and brought it inside Bangladesh. Another laborer named Amjad Ali (21) was reportedly seriously injured in the coal quarry collapse.
The deceased laborer Rubel is the son of Kenu Mia of Rajniline village of Uor Baradal union of Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj.

Among the injured, Amjad Ali (20), son of Abbas Ali of Rajni Line village of Uor Baradal Union of the upazila, was brought from India and secretly taken to Sylhet by his relatives for treatment.
Several people of the border village confirmed this information and said that for the last one and a half years, BGB’s Tekerghat BOP’s Tekerghat, Chanpur BOP’s Chanpur along with the border, Rajni Line, Nayachra, Baliaghat BOP’s Lakma, Lalghat, Charagaon BOP’s Lalghat Paschimpara, Banshtala, Charagaon, Day and night along several border routes including Kalagaon, Jangalbari, workers are bringing coal consignments through smuggling from India. Then those coals are bought by the people in the syndicate and stored in different coal depots and homesteads of Barachara, Charagaon customs station and sold elsewhere by sea as customs evasion (Bangla coal).
