Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, said that energy transition and adequate climate finance are essential for the sustainable development of Bangladesh. She said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the session entitled “Pathways to tripling renewables in South Asia” of the World Climate Conference (COP29) held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
She said that up to 40% of the country’s renewable energy needs can be met by installing rooftop solar panels. Besides, tea plantations and uncultivated government land can be used for renewable energy projects.
