Bangladesh urged to achieve ambitious goals in COP29

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forests, Climate Change and Water Resources, said at the ‘Annual High Level Ministerial Round Table Meeting on Pre-2030 Ambitions’ held on COP29 that it is not possible to wait until 2030 to take effective action against climate change. To meet the 1.5°C target, developed countries must commit to rapid emissions reductions and implement their commitments under the Paris Agreement.
Highlighting how Bangladesh, as a climate-vulnerable country, is dealing with the reality of climate change every day, she emphasized on coordinated global initiatives.
In another event, Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan held a bilateral meeting with Nepal’s Minister of Forests and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri.
