Bangladesh Teacher-Employee Union President Principal Salim Bhuiyan said, ‘Former President Ziaur Rahman paid 50% salary to teachers. Later former President Ershad increased teachers’ salaries by 20 percent. Former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia also increased the salary by 20 percent. Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia have contributed to the development of teachers. BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia had already announced that the jobs of private teachers will be nationalized. It is not possible to fulfill your logical demands without BNP. In the future, if BNP comes to power, the maximum effort will be made to nationalize the jobs of teachers. For this you have to come and unite on a platform. As you were organized in the past, you will be organized in the present.’
Principal Salim Bhuiyan said this while addressing the chief guest at the tri-annual conference of Bangladesh Teachers’ Association (Nagalkot Upazila Branch) at the Nangalkot Upazila Parishad Auditorium on Saturday. Salah Uddin Swapan presided over the conference implementation committee. Special guests in this tri-annual conference were teachers association central secretary Md Zakir Hossain, presidium member Abdur Razzak, Comilla district president (acting) Billal Hossain Miyaji.
