Dr. Shahadat Hossain wants to develop Chattogram city as a tourist city
Dr. Sahadat wants to make use of the tourism potential of Chittagong to make the country prosperous and create employment opportunities.
On Monday, he presented his plan around Chittagong in a meeting of the members of the committee formed by the local government department for the proper management of the overall activities of Chasik at the Chasik office at Tigerpass.
Dr. Shahadat said that the GDP of Bangladesh mainly depends on three sectors. But we can bring another sector number four through Chittagong. That is the tourism sector. With the tourism sector, all the SAARC countries around us have become prosperous. But we could not develop this tourism sector in that way. The tourism sector of Bangladesh is dependent on Chittagong. If you want to go somewhere for entertainment in Bangladesh, think of Cox’s Bazar first. Then Bandarban, Rangamati or Khagrachari. Apart from this, there are many other tourist centers in Chittagong.
“For this reason, if we can develop the tourism sector of Chittagong, on the one hand, the country will earn a large amount of foreign currency, on the other hand, there will be extensive employment at the local level.
Commenting on the need for development of Chittagong for the sake of economic development, Mayor said, Chittagong Port is such a big sector of Bangladesh’s income. The money of the port is going to the place where there is a shortage to make it economically prosperous, although the port of Chittagong. So we have to think about the tourism industry of Chittagong. There are special economic zones, there are container yards. Here is a matter of increasing your port capacity and here is the trade center. Chittagong is also known as a business hub. So, today Chittagong is in a very important zone due to geographical reasons. During the meeting, Chasik’s chief executive officer Sheikh Muhammad Touhidul Islam, Secretary Md. Heads of departments and branches of Chasik along with Ashraful Amin and representatives of various government agencies of the city were present.
