BMMOA press conference, Demand 5-point
Bangladesh Marine Officers Association (BMMOA) has made 5 point demands including appointment of former marine captain Shafiqullah as director general of shipping department, appointment of mariners in important posts of maritime administration, appointment of qualified candidates for the post of Member of Chittagong Port.
The members made these demands at a press conference held at the city’s (BMMOA) office in Agrabad on Wednesday (October 9) afternoon.
President of Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers Association Captain Md. Anam Chowdhury presided over the press conference and read the written statement of the general secretary of the organization Marine Engineer Md. Shakhawat Hossain.
In his written speech, he said about the 5-point demand.
Marine Captain Shafiqullah, who was illegally removed from the post of Director General of Shipping Department by tagging then Director General Jamaat-e-Islami in 2009, should be promoted again to the post of Director General of Shipping Department.
The despicable conspiracy of the country’s potential shipping sector by the Director General of Shipping to destroy the Marine Administration by bringing in unscrupulous people from other sectors must be stopped and suitable candidates must be promoted and appointed.
Dosar Barisal and Commandant of Rangpur Marine Academy should return immediately and appoint suitable persons as per recruitment rules for all the positions of trainers.
The despotic system must be destroyed by promoting suitable candidates to the post of Member (Harbor) of Chittagong Port.
BMMOA’s claim, with the aim of making Bangladesh’s shipping sector prestigious in the world court, keeping in mind the reform, restructuring and development plan of the shipping sector, the Ministry of Shipping has been asked to inve
stigate all the Pacific corruption in the mentioned shipping sector. Senior members Mehrul Karim, Capt. Malek, Ataullah Khan, Atiq Ullah and other members of the association were also present.
