‘Specific planning should be done to build livable Dhaka’

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, said that a specific action plan is needed to make Dhaka livable. It is important to create a city vision for Dhaka. Not only should mega projects be done, greening should be increased. There should be open space, seating and opportunities for youth sports.
He said this as a special speaker at a discussion program organized on the occasion of World Habitat Day 2024 at Rajuk Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday. This year’s theme was, “Engage the youth, build better cities.”
Adviser to Ministry of Housing, Public Works and Industries Adilur Rahman Khan was the main speaker on the occasion. Housing and Public Works Ministry Secretary Md. Hamidur Rahman Khan presided. UN Resident Coordinator Gwen Lewis and Additional Secretary Shakila Zerin Ahmed spoke on the occasion.
Joint-Secretary Naila Ahmed presented the keynote.
