Harmful chemicals in biryani of ‘Kachchi Express’ in CTG; 1 lakh taka fine
‘Kachchi Express’ has been fined Tk 1 lakh taka for using harmful chemicals, expired spices and colors and storing stale biryani in GEC Mor area of Chittagong city.
The operation was conducted on Wednesday (October 2) under the leadership of Deputy Director (DD) Mohammad Faiz Ullah. On the same day, a company named Flavors Premium Sweets and Bakers of GEC Mor area was fined Tk 20,000 for various irregularities including selling expired food products. Besides, a large number of expired medicines are available in a shop called Maulana Pharmacy in Kathgarh area of Patenga police station.
Nasreen Akhtar, Assistant Director of Consumer Directorate, Rana Deb Nath and Anichur Rahman were present in the campaign.
The campaign was led by Deputy Director of Chittagong Divisional Office of National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate Mohammad Faiz Ullah, accompanied by Assistant Director of Consumer Rights Nasreen Akhtar, Rana Deb Nath, Md. Anichur Rahman.
Mohammad Faiz Ullah, deputy director of the Chittagong divisional office of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate, said that a total of Tk 140,000 fine was imposed on 3 establishments for selling expired food, medicines, using harmful spices and dyes in restaurant food. At the same time traders are warned. The monitoring activities of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate will continue in the public interest.
