Various illegal structures are constantly being built on the banks of an illegal fish market.
The people from different places are coming and getting involved in various businesses. The future of children growing up here is also uncertain. Who will take the responsibility of the port authority? CDA? City Corporation? Or the district administration?
Despite the clear instructions of the High Court, why is it not being removed? Trying to find his answer in vain.
First of all, let’s know why suddenly the protector became the eater. There is no entertainment center for children around Karnaphuli & Baklia.
If something was in public interest, then it would not have suffered from the 2nd (BNMSS) party for 28 lakh Taka annually and the 3rd (NFM) party for 48 lakh Taka annually  for 15 years. This is what the conscious circles are saying.
In what sense the port authority leases the fish market where the work of the port authority is to restore the navigability of the river.
According to the law, the port authority can do such a thing, Deputy Manager (State) of the port told The Daily Morning Glory in an interview-
The Port Authority may grant such leases as it has power under its own law. Rivers can rule. He also said that the port authority is the owner of this place even before Char wakes up. With the help of digital information technology, he tried to describe the entire matter by taking out a digital map to the reporter. He added that in 2019 it also showed a declaration of the port property.
However, coincidentally, on that day Sunday, at the table of the deputy manager (state) of the port, the president of the new illegal fish market  Mohammad Ali, and the chairman of the Bangladesh National Fishery Cooperative Association were present. The deputy manager introduced the two. At one point of introduction, the chairman of BNMSS said to the reporter, “Have you come here on behalf of Shamsul, the president of the old market?”
The reporter replied that the job of the media is to act in the public interest and make it understandable to the people by talking to the proper authorities in search of the truth.
When asked what is the purpose of constructing the fishing wharf at the cost of 88 lakh Taka, he did not give any answer but the BNMSS chairman (Samsul Alam) said that it is for the benefit of the fish sellers, but the work is stopped as it is not fruitful. But according to another source, it was closed due to the intervention of the then Deputy Commissioner.
Talking to the fish market traders, it is known that this new fish market, Fish Landing, has been created as a commission trade arena under the possession of Karnaphuli. Which is fine because of some influential port officials. Various structures have been built around it which are illegal. We have taken shop here with Salami. We also know that there is a High Court ruling, but we have to run our business, so we are doing business here. The cost is the same here as in the previous market. There’s a lot more going on behind the scenes of the fish business here that I can’t tell you. Many people here have become overnight millionaires by doing this.
