Police in strict stance against militancy-IGP

Bangladesh Police IGP Moinul Islam has warned that strict action will be taken against those involved in the use or sale of illegal weapons.
He said this during an exchange of views with journalists at the conference room of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) in Dampara, Chittagong city on September 28 (Saturday) afternoon.
The IGP said, “Strict action will be taken if anyone takes the law in the name of mob justice.” Besides, the militants who are on bail will be under surveillance. Strict action will be taken if they indulge in militancy again.

Regarding the ongoing joint operation, the IGP said that 238 weapons have been recovered so far. 75 percent of the weapons looted by the police have been recovered. He said that arms users wherever they are will be brought under strict laws.

He also said that overall security will be ensured during the upcoming Durga Puja. Everyone should be careful to avoid any incident that destroys communal harmony.
In response to a question from the journalists, the IGP said that the accused in the case will not be arrested. Arrests will be made only if the investigation finds involvement.

Earlier, the IGP spoke as the chief guest at a special welfare meeting organized by CMP and Chittagong Range in Chittagong District Police Lines in the afternoon with senior officers of all police units and policemen of all levels of Chittagong Range. RAB Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasib Aziz and Chittagong Range DIG Md Ahsan Habib Palash were present.
