Shakib addresses a press conference ahead of the second Test against India in Kanpur on Thursday (September 26). At that time he said, ‘I think I have played my last match in T20, if I play in Mirpur Test (against South Africa), that will be my last Test. I will leave Mirpur for the Test. Since then, the discussion has become active through sports and social media.

Earlier, Shakib played the shortest version of cricket against Afghanistan in the last T20 World Cup. Which was the last T20 match of his career. In 2006, Bangladesh played the first T20 match in the country’s history against Zimbabwe at the Sheikh Abu Nasser Stadium in Khulna. Shakib witnessed that match. Besides scoring 26 runs with the bat in the debut match, he took 1 wicket with the ball.

He is the second cricketer in the world along with Rohit Sharma to have participated in 9 World Cups held so far.

Shakib has played 70 Tests for the national team in a long career of 17 years. Scored 4,600 runs and took 242 wickets. Besides, he played 129 matches in T20. Besides scoring 2 thousand 551 runs with the bat, he took 149 wickets with the ball.    However, despite announcing his retirement from Test and T20, Mr. 75 wants to retire from ODI cricket by playing in the Champions Trophy to be held next year.
