Water inflow through the broken banks of Haldar is not reducing
After 18 long hours, the strong current of Halda water is not reducing. Fatikchari Hathazari bordering area of Chittagong, water is entering the locality in the broken part of Haldar Par. The residents of that neighborhood somehow survived, but the entire house including the furniture went down. About twenty-two and a half families have disappeared.
On Friday (August 23) morning, such a scene was seen in the Farhadabad Union area of Halda Par.
On the surface, it can be seen that the water is entering by breaking about 30 feet on the south bank of Halda, 150 yards away on the west side of the new Bailey Bridge of Nazirhat on the border of the two upazilas. Thousands of people of about 250 families of that area have stayed in the surrounding houses with some kind of clothes.
Some have come to inquire about the condition of the house which disappeared at night. Some of them are trying to rescue the necessary things from the house by going into chest-deep water.
In the meantime, various voluntary organizations come forward to help them. However, it is as if the residents are still holding hands on their heads. One of them is Moni.
He said, today I have been here for almost 40 years. The water never rose. The bank was not broken. I have never seen so much water before.
A 60-year-old man from the same area said that such water had never happened before. Yesterday I got on the road with some kind of life. Around six in the evening, the bank suddenly broke. It didn’t even take 10 minutes, water entered all the rooms. The water is still not decreasing. God knows what happens.
