Lion Aslam Chowdhury, former convenor of Chittagong North District BNP, recently former Joint Secretary General of BNP, advisor to BNP Chairperson, who was imprisoned for eight and a half years, has been released. He was released from Chittagong Central Jail around 10 am on Tuesday (August 20). Earlier, ignoring the rain since morning, hundreds of BNP leaders and activists gathered at the prison gate to welcome Aslam Chowdhury. At this time, the activists stood there and chanted various slogans. Later, when he came out, he was welcomed with flower garlands by Chittagong Metropolitan BNP Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman and a large number of leaders and activists.

At that time, Nazimur Rahman said that Aslam Chowdhury was unjustly imprisoned by the Awami League government for eight and a half years. He was on bail in all the cases but the government has repeatedly blocked his release. He has been a victim of the wrath of the Awami League government.

A series of absentee cases have been unfairly filed against him. Harassed him with 67 cases. But despite hundreds of tortures, the end of Awami League was not saved. Sheikh Hasina was forced to leave the country due to the mass uprising of the students.

After the hearing last Monday, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court led by the Chief Justice rejected the appeal filed by the state against the bail of Aslam Chowdhury.
