Chittagong city and district have a total of 33 police stations, with 17 in the district and 16 in the city.
On August 5, after Sheikh Hasina resigned as Prime Minister amid a student uprising and left the country, several police stations, outposts, camps, and police boxes in the city and district were attacked, vandalized, and set on fire.
Weapons and ammunition were also looted during these incidents. Since then, the activities of the city and district police stations have been suspended.
