Police baton during ‘Bangla Blockade’ program in Chittagong….

Students of Chittagong are holding ‘Bangla Blockade’ program to demand reform of quota system by canceling unreasonable and discriminatory quota in all grades in government jobs. On the fourth day of this program, there was an incident of police blocking the march of students.

Today Thursday at 5:40 pm, when the students started a procession at the Tiger-pass intersection in Chattogram city, the police tried to stop them with barricades. When the students broke the police barricade and advanced, the police beat some of them with batons. When the procession reached 2 no area, one and a half kilometers away, the police again chased them and beat them with batons. However, the students occupied 2 no gate and police presence continued there.

This blockade program is being celebrated under the banner of anti-discrimination student movement of CU and affiliated colleges. Students and job aspirants from various educational institutions of Chattogram are participating in this program held for the fourth day. They demand that a maximum quota of 5 percent should be kept in all government jobs.

Meanwhile, Till the latest news there has been an attack on protesting students in Rajshahi by calling them as “SIBIR”. Comilla University students blocked the Dhaka-Chittagong highway and clashed with police tear gas and strike-charge.
