Chittagong City Corporation’s history of the largest lighting project costing Tk 260 crore 89 lakh 87 thousand has been signed.
(Saturday) 6th July at Chittagong Radisson this deal will be completed.
Sheikh Muhammad Tauhidul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of Chasik, and Niraj Kumar, General Manager (Smart Cities) of Shaparji Palanji & Company Limited, signed the agreement on behalf of Chasik.
In the speech of the chief guest, the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperative Ministry, Mr. Md. Tajul Islam MP said that India has been playing an important role as a friend of Bangladesh since 1971. With the help of India, the people of Chittagong will get the light of Chittagong through the implementation of this project. This project will be helpful in building a smart Bangladesh.
City Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said, through this project, 460 km road lighting is going to be done which is environment friendly, energy efficient, sustainable and centrally controllable. After its implementation, no alleyway of Chittagong will be out of light. Because we will be able to easily light up city alleys with existing lights on major roads, it will increase the safety and comfort of the city dwellers and will bring about a revolutionary change in the city landscape. As Mayor, I promise to ensure that this project is implemented properly and with proper quality standards.
Prannoy Verma, the Indian High Commissioner assigned to Bangladesh, said that India was on the side of Bangladesh in the liberation war. At present, this project will work as a token of friendship of India’s role in the development of Bangladesh. If the project is implemented, it will be possible to light up Chittagong in a cost-effective and environment-friendly manner. In the speech of the special guest, Secretary of Local Government Department Abu Hena Morshed Zaman wished the project success. Member of Parliament Abduch Chalam, former mayor Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, Port Chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail, Divisional Commissioner Tofail Islam, DIG Noore Alam Mina, Police Commissioner Deputy Inspector General of Police Md.
