Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Inter-College Football Tournament-2024 was inaugurated in Bandarban.On Sunday (June 30) Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban Shah Mujahid Uddin announced the auspicious opening of this tournament by blowing colorful balloons.Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Umme Kulsum presided over the inauguration ceremony.

Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Umme habiba Mera,District Sports Officer Main Uddin Milky and other leaders of the district sports organization were present at the inauguration ceremony joint organized by the Bandarban District Administration and District Sports Office.8 teams are participating in this tournament with the overall cooperation by Sports Directorate of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.In the opening game Baishari High School and College team defeated Rowangchari College team by 1-0 goal.The 17th jersey holder A Kay Hla scored the only winning goal in the game.

Deputy Commissioner Shah Mujahid Uddin said,such sports competition will contribute to talent search from the grass root level.School-college students should pay more attention to sports in addition to studies. If they can be kept on the field, it will be possible to bring back the lost football glory of the country.He said,one day the players of hilly Bandarban will represent Bandarban district at the national level.Deputy Commissioner Shah Mujahid Uddin also mentioned that he will give full support to promote local sports.
