CUJ protest rally against the attacks on journalists in Chottogram
If the are not arrested soon, they have warned of a strict program
The Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) held a rally against the criminal attack on journalists in Chottogram while performing their professional duties. Journalist leaders demanded the administration to quickly bring those involved in the attacks on journalists from the assembly to justice.
On Wednesday (April 24) in front of the Chottogram Press Club to protest against the attacks on journalists, the speakers said that the journalists are being attacked one after another in Chittagong while performing their professional duties. Terrorists also attacked the journalist’s village house. In such a situation, journalists are performing their duties in extreme insecurity.
Ciuz President Tapan Chakraborty presided over and General Secretary Md. CUJ former president Mohammad Ali, Senior Vice President Rubel Khan, Chittagong Press Club Senior Vice President Chowdhury Farid, General Secretary Debdulal Bhowmik, BFUJ-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists executive member Azhar Mahmud, President of TV Camera Journalists Association addressed the rally under the direction of Shamsul Islam. CUJ President Tapan Chakraborty warned of strict action if the terrorists are not brought under the law soon. He said, it is very sad that the terrorists are not arrested. We demand immediate identification and arrest of those involved in the incident.
General Secretary of CUJ Shamsul Islam said that the Criminal tried to kill the journalist Salim Ullah because he recorded the video during the clash between the two terrorist groups in the double mooring area. Even though the police have arrested some people, they are out on bail and are again establishing a reign of terror. Influentials tried to kill Sakhawat Alam while collecting information on illegal water trade in the port area. Also, the criminal attacked and looted the village house of Chottogram Pratidin editor Hossain Taufiq Iftikhar. We are concerned about safety in these incidents.
