Satkania mobile court fined a supporter of Chittagong-15 independent candidate Tk 1 lakh for trying to bribe a magistrate in Satkania, Chittagong.
One named Md. Moinul Islam Chowdhury (48) was arrested with a black bag while running away on sensing the presence of the mobile court on Chibbari Road of Sadar Union of the upazila on Saturday afternoon. If it looks suspicious, 5 lakh cash is found by searching the bag. When he was interrogated, he said that he was taking this money to distribute to voters on behalf of independent candidate MA Motaleb (Eagle symbol). He offered to bribe the Executive Magistrate in charge to cover up the matter.
Then he was fined TK 01 lakh for admitting the charges. 5 lakhs seized was ordered to be deposited in the government treasury through challan.
Satkania Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Arafat Siddiqui conducted the raid.
