26th anniversary of Hill Peace Accords celebrated in Bandarban

The 26th anniversary of the Bandarban Hill Peace Accord was celebrated with a colorful programme. On Saturday (December 2) organized jointly by Bandarban Army Region and hill district council. The celebration started auspiciously with the release of balloons and peace pigeons in the premises of the District Commissioner’s office. Then the harmony’s auspicious procession went out and after circumambulating the main main road of the city and it was gathered at kings ground.
11 small ethnic communities with bengali of the hilly areas participated in harmony’s auspicious procession with colorful clothes,banners and festoons in their hands.
Later, a discussion meeting was held on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Hill Peace Treaty at the King’s Field.
Brigadier General Md. Golam Mahiuddin Ahmed was the chief guest. He said, everyone’s sincerity and cooperation is needed to continue the trend of development that has started here after the Mountain Peace Agreement.
Acting Chairman of Bandarban hill district council Kanchan Joy Tangchangya presided over the event. Deputy Commissioner Shah Mujahid Uddin, Superintendent of Police Saikat Shahen, Chief Executive Officer of bhdc Masum Billah, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Md. Rayhan Kazemi, Municipal Mayor Shamsul Islam, Hill District council member Laxmi Pada Das and other officials present.
