This institution is making a special contribution in providing free health services to the common people at the village level. In addition to providing health counseling, these centers provide safe maternal care.

One such organization is Dhandia Model Health and Family Welfare Center of Tala Upazila. The institution has spread in Satkhira district by gaining an unprecedented reputation in medical services. Providing various types of health services starting from normal delivery. Pregnant women are encouraged in various ways to come to these health care centers. To encourage expectant mothers to have a normal delivery. Different types of counseling are provided through village or neighborhood based health related yard meetings. Besides, he said that 142 pregnant women have been identified in Dhandia Union in the last one month through inspection.

Service recipients said that if someone in the family suddenly falls ill, they are immediately brought to this health care center. They are greatly impressed by the sincerity and friendliness of the doctors and health workers employed here. Besides, they came with peace of mind because of the very good quality of healthcare.

Vithika Pal (SACMO) said that due to general patient pressure, shortage of end-of-month medicines is reduced to a large extent. Due to which it becomes not possible for the patients to complete the medication dose. Sometimes after the delivery, relatives of the mother and the born baby come with sweets which is very happy and rewarding for us.

Family welfare inspector Fatema Zohra said that pregnant women, mothers, children, teenagers come here to get services all the time. About 10 to 15 pregnant women are given normal delivery here every month. We are trying to provide quality service.

Tala upazila family and planning officer. Kamal Hossain said that there are 500 model health and family welfare centers across Bangladesh. It is the only model health and family welfare center among the 12 unions of the upazila. As it is a model health and family welfare center it is followed by all. However, they are working towards the goal that the service can be sincerely delivered to the doorstep of people. He also said that there is no shortage of manpower in Model Health and Family Welfare Centers. Emphasis on cleanliness and more emphasis on public service delivery.

Gazi Bashir Ahmed, Deputy Director of Satkhira Family Planning, said that the Dhandia Union Health and Family Welfare Center of Tala Upazila is a model service center declared by the government. Family planning and maternal and child health services are provided here along with 24/7 normal delivery facilities. There is excellent coordination between each staff member of the service center along with other staff members of the family planning department of the respective union. As a result the quality of Dhandia Union family planning services is very satisfactory.
