World Handwashing Day has been celebrated in Chapainawabganj under the motto “Clean hands within your reach”. On Sunday at 10 am, the district administration and the district directorate of public health and engineering organized a rally and discussion meeting. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Agriculturist Ahmed Mahbub-ul-Islam presided over the discussion meeting held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner. Speaking at the discussion meeting – Civil Surgeon. Dr. SM Mahmudur Rashid, Superintendent of 250 Bed District Hospital Dr. Masud Parvez, Additional Superintendent of Police (Nawabganj Circle) Jahangir Alam, Deputy Director of District Family Planning Office Shahidul Islam. John Palash Hasda, Deputy Assistant Engineer of Directorate of Public Health Engineering, presented a documentary related to the day. Earlier, a rally took out from the District Commissioner’s office premises and circled various roads. Chapainawabganj Municipality Panel Mayor Saleh Uddin, District Education Officer Abdur Rashid, Deputy Director of District Agriculture Extension Directorate also participated in the program. Dr. Palash Sarker, Education Engineering Department Executive Engineer Zillur Rahman, District Fisheries Officer Mahbubur Rahman, District Livestock Officer Dr. Mostafizur Rahman and all the officials of the district level offices. Speakers said that everyone must wash both hands thoroughly before eating. So that no germs can enter the stomach. Children are at greater health risk due to dirt and germs on their hands. So more care should be taken towards children. Later hand washing demonstration was held.
