2 people died due to electrocution in Gaibandha

Two persons, including a woman, died of electrocution at a separate place in Saghata Upazila of Gaibandha. Two more people including a child were injured in the incident.
On Thursday (24 August) night, Palli Vidyut Samiti, Bonarpara Area Office said this information.
The deceased are Abdul Alam (35), son of Lal Mia of Dighalkandi village of Haldia union of the upazila and Rashida Begum (45), wife of Hannan Mia of Ulyasonatla village of Kachua union. Besides, two people named Siam Mia (5) and Sahida Begum (25) were injured and are undergoing treatment.
Locals said that on Thursday morning, Abdul Alam was trying to operate the irrigation system by hooking the electricity illegally. In the meantime, Abdul Alam died on the spot due to electrocution.
Meanwhile, a child named Siyam Mia of Ulasonatala village was suddenly electrocuted when she touched the grill of her house. Meanwhile, Rashida Begum went to save the child but she was also trapped. When a housewife named Sahida Begum came forward to rescue them, all three were electrocuted at the same time. Later the family members rescued them and admitted them to a local hospital. Rashida Begum died while undergoing treatment there.
