To enhance the livelihood and economic stability of small ethnic communities living in the plain lands of Ghatail Upazila in Tangail, 96 selected beneficiaries have received goats along with tin sheets and cement poles for constructing protective shelters. The support was provided under the government’s Integrated Livestock Development Project.
The distribution ceremony took place on Monday at the Upazila Veterinary Hospital premises. Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Bahauddin Sarwar Rizvi chaired the event, while Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Abu Sayeed was present as the chief guest. Speakers highlighted the importance of livestock for sustainable income generation among marginalized groups.
Veterinary Surgeon Zafrul Hasan Ripon, President of the Tribal Welfare Association (Upazila Branch) Mohananda Barman, International Human Rights General Secretary Pradeep Kumar Roy, Joint Secretary Bikrom Aditya, Member Amullya Barman, and President of the International Human Rights Law Organization (Upazila Branch) Parimal Barman were also present during the event.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude, hoping that the initiative would help boost their income, ensure food security, and improve their standard of living.
