Anti-drug exchange meeting organized by RAB-15 held in Ukhia

Calling for building a social movement to eradicate drugs from the society, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-15 has organized an anti-drug public awareness exchange meeting at the Palangkhali High School ground in Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar. The meeting was held under the guidance of the Director General of RAB Forces and under the overall supervision of RAB-15 Commander Lt. Col. Md. Kamrul Hasan, PSC, Artillery. Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md. Abdul Mannan was present as the chief guest at the meeting. Also present were the Deputy Commander of 64 BGB, Ukhia Circle Additional SP, 8 APBN Additional SP, representatives of the Civil Surgeon’s Office, officials of the Narcotics Control Department and Ukhia Upazila Executive Officer. Cox’s Bazar District Football Team Captain Mobarak Hossain and popular musician Malek joined the meeting to inspire the youth. A large number of people including local public representatives, journalists, dignitaries, school and madrasa teachers and students were present at the event. RAB-15 Commander Lt. Col. Md. Kamrul Hasan presided over the meeting.
He said, “Drugs destroy not only the individual but also the entire family and society. Drug control is not possible for law enforcement alone—for this, a social movement must be built with the participation of everyone.” He also said, “The children and wives of families whose members are involved in drug dealing should be aware. We want every young person to be vocal against drugs.” The RAB official said that if a family member is addicted to drugs and has financial difficulties, RAB will bear all the rehabilitation costs if they contact RAB-15. The chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Md. Abdul Mannan, in his speech, called on everyone to return from the path of drug use. He made the students recite the anti-drug oath. Didarul Alam, Executive Director of the Anchor Drug Addiction Treatment Center, spoke at the program and popular musician Malek performed a song for the students. At the end of the program, the Deputy Commissioner and RAB-15 commander handed over educational materials and sports equipment to the students.
