District administration conducts mobile court to monitor daily commodities market in various places in Chattogram City.

Today, March 20, 2025, as part of the district administration’s market monitoring activities, the Assistant Commissioner Executive Magistrate Shakib Shahriar, Sadman Shahid & Izharul Ahmed Shihab of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Chittagong conducted a mobile court at Falmondi Wholesale Market in Chittagong Metropolitan area.

For various irregularities during the operation of the mobile court, 04 accused were fined a total of 11,500/-(eleven thousand five hundred taka) in 04 cases under the relevant sections of the Agricultural Marketing Act, 2018 and the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.

On the other hand, the mobile court was run by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Chittagong, Assistant Commissioner Executive Magistrate Subrata Halder and Rayyan Ferdous at Fakirhat Bazar of Bandar Thana, Chittagong Metropolitan City.

During this time, a total of 4000/- (four thousand taka) was fined in 02 cases under the relevant sections of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 and the Weights and Measures Act, 2018 for various irregularities including not displaying the price list, not using proper packaging of the product.

During the campaign, the concerned traders and sellers were warned and made aware of the rights of consumers.

Such campaigns of the district administration will continue regularly throughout the month of Ramadan and necessary steps will be taken to ensure transparency and stability in market management. Journalists from various print and electronic media were present during the mobile court activities.

Administration said that the regular mobile court activities of the Market Monitoring Task Force will continue throughout the month of Ramadan.
