Chakaria Masterpara Banshghat road has become a death trap

SM Humayun Kabir
A large pothole has been created on the road adjacent to Masterpara Bash Ghat Road in Ward 08 under Chakaria Municipality in Cox’s Bazar district, turning the road into a death trap.
The suffering of thousands of people, including school, college, and madrasa students, is now at its peak. In addition, various vehicles, including large trucks of businessmen, mini pickup trucks, motorcycles, battery-powered autovans, and easy bikes, are constantly moving.
Locals say that small and big accidents happen on this road every day. Sometimes cars overturn and fall into ditches, and sometimes pedestrians lose their minds.
Although thousands of people travel on this road, there is no visible initiative to repair it. Locals allege that this situation is due to the negligence of the concerned department. Locals have claimed that there is a risk of major loss of life if repairs are not carried out quickly.Neither the concerned authorities nor the local public representatives are taking this issue into consideration. Even though it is right under the noses of the authorities, the local victims are not benefiting at all.
The road has been in a bad condition for the past 1 year. If the road is not repaired very soon, there is a possibility of major accidents here. Therefore, it is necessary to repair the road quickly in the larger public interest.
