RJA Iftar Mahfil with a group of young journalists

On Saturday (March 15), an Iftar Mahfil was held amidst religious fervor at ASIAN SR Hotel & Restaurant on Station Road in port city Chattogram.

Journalists, politicians, government and private officials working in various media outlets in Chittagong participated in the event. The Iftar event turned into a gathering.

The Iftar Mahfil discussion meeting organized under the chairmanship of the organization’s president SM Pintu and moderated by organization member Gias Uddin Liton was addressed by senior journalist Faruk Iqbal, founding president of CRF Kazi Abul Mansur, senior journalists Jobair Siddiqui, Mujahidul Islam, Ayub Ali, Kamal Uddin, Kamal Parvez, Nurul Amin Mintu, city BNP leader and former president of Firingi Bazar ward BNP Akhtar Khan, vice president of CAB central committee and president of Chittagong divisional committee SM Nazer Hossain, BREL Chittagong president Selim Patwary, and others.

Also present were Nur Mohammad Rana, regional editor of Dainik Shomor Kagoj, Mohan Mintu, journalists Osman Jahangir, Mujibullah Tushar, Md. Nazrul Islam. Nazrul Chowdhury, Alamgir, M Iqbal Hossain Chittagong Bureau of The Daily Morning Glory, and others.

The speakers urged journalists to play a stronger role in the reconstruction of Bangladesh in the changing situation. They also promised to take it further by highlighting the socio-economic development and tourism potential of Chittagong to the government.

At one point in the speech, Kazi Abul Mansur addressed the leaders of the current Railway Journalists Association and said, “You should highlight the activities of the organization on a larger scale. There is a lot to know about the railway arena, a lot of railway land that may have been abandoned. There is no big hospital or cemetery in this Chittagong, but it is owned by the railway authorities. You should highlight these issues.”

The journalist leaders, wishing for the overall welfare of RJA, assured all kinds of support to further accelerate the organization. They also called for organizing more training workshops to improve the professional standards of the members of the organization.

The members of the executive committee present at the Iftar ceremony were Abdul Matin Chowdhury Ripon, Md. Omar Faruk, S. M. Akash, Rajib Sen Prince, Bhupen Das, M. R. Amin, Rahul Sarkar Palash, Md. Jahangir Alam, Millad Uddin Munna Md. Zahidul Islam, Mazahar Islam Rana, Arafat Quader, Rakib Uddin, Humayun Kabir Hiroo, Selim Chowdhury, Sheikh Abdul Awal Munna, Ashiq Arefon, Sheikh Morshedul Alam, Tayyab Chowdhury and others.

Before the Iftar, prayers were offered for the welfare of the country and the nation. The prayers were offered by Hafez Ibrahim. Earlier, the only son of journalist Kamal Parvez recited the Quran at the beginning of the ceremony.
