The Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex in Lalmonirhat has been operating for a long time with a shortage of modern equipment, doctors and manpower. Such a scene was seen when visiting the health complex. The 31-bed Upazila Health Complex was built to ensure healthcare for the people of 8 unions of the upazila. Later, to reduce the suffering of patients, the 31-bed Upazila Health Complex was expanded to 50. Victims complain that although it has been upgraded to a 12-bed hospital, the quality of service is still not satisfactory.
A visit to the site shows that, like other healthcare centers in Lalmonirhat, the number of female patients in this health complex is relatively higher than that of male patients.
Many dying patients are lying in hospital beds. On the other hand, healthcare is being disrupted due to manpower shortage. Patients and their relatives who come for treatment are not getting satisfactory services due to the shortage of doctors in relation to the patient ratio, shortage of medicines and food supply. In addition, due to the shortage of sweepers, garbage is scattered around. Patients complain Due to the lack of modern diagnostic equipment, they have to go to outside clinics for tests. In this situation, medical services are being disrupted due to the lack of financial resources of the patients.
It is learnt that the hospital is running its regular activities due to a shortage of manpower, including doctors. Although there are some scientific equipment and medicines to provide advanced health services, patients do not get the benefits of them. Hundreds of sick people come to this health complex every day for treatment.
This health complex does not have skilled lab technicians to conduct important tests.
