Munshiganj Journalist Union President Biplab & Secretary Manik

Kazi Biplob Hasan has been elected unopposed as the president of the Journalists Union in the biennial elections in Munshiganj. Md. Sakhawat Hossain Manik has been elected as the general secretary through voting. Candidates were previously elected unopposed for 6 posts in the 9-member committee. Voting for the remaining 3 posts was held on Sunday.
Voting began at the organization’s district office in Khal East area of the city on Sunday from 2 pm and continued till 5 pm. Out of 86 voters, 81 voters exercised their franchise for 3 posts. In this, the new face candidate for the post of general secretary, Md. Sakhawat Hossain Manik, was directly elected by getting 62 votes. His closest rival candidate, Md. Rubel, who was incumbent on the post, got only 18 votes. In that case, there was a tight competition in the election for this post.
Apart from this, Md. Abu Sayeed Sourav got 66 votes for the post of Organizing Secretary. His nearest rival Md. Sharif got 13 votes and Md. Masud Hasan Khan was elected for the post of General Member with 51 votes. His nearest rival Abdus Salam got 29 votes. Voters are very happy that they got the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidate through the election for the first time in this organization. There was a festive atmosphere here today surrounding this election.

Kazi Biplob Hasan was elected unopposed as president, Jasim Uddin as vice-president, Hamidul Islam Lincoln as joint secretary, Abdur Rakib as treasurer, Rahmat Ullah Dewan as office secretary, and Md. Kah Alam as publicity secretary. Erfanul Haque Nahid, organizing secretary of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), was present on the day of the election.
