This time the drone will be made in a factory in the country. A Bangladeshi company called Sky Bees Limited has taken the initiative to manufacture this hi-tech drone for export.
These drones, which are generally used for various commercial and service purposes, are known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or UAVs around the world. Entrepreneurs said that this is the first such drone made for commercial and export purposes in the country.
Sky Biz has planned to set up a factory at Bepza Economic Zone in Chittagong’s Mirsrai to manufacture UAVs. Sky Bees will invest about 4.6 million US dollars to set up this factory on about two acres of land and start production of drones, which is about 5 crores taka in Bangladeshi currency.
Sky Bees officials said that they will make a total of 10 models of UAVs. They expect the production of two models to start in January. If the factory is fully operational, drones worth 169 million dollars will be exported from here annually. It is equal to about 2 thousand 300 crores in Bangladeshi currency.
Jasim Ahmed, managing director of Sky Bees, said that about two years ago, some students of a private university of the country took the initiative to make drones as part of their academic work. They were quite successful in this work. However, lack of adequate investment and necessary parts; But they did not give up. Jasim Ahmed once contacted those students. He then arranged for adequate research and development (R&D) support in the manufacture of UAVs. For this, training is arranged abroad. At this stage the desired success comes.
Jasim Ahmed said, initially they were able to make two models of drones and realized that it has a lot of potential in the international market. In continuation of this, he officially established a company called Sky Bees Limited in June last year. Sky Bees means bees in the sky; That is, the name is given to drones like bees in the sky.
After establishing the company, they met the Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) and informed about their products and investment plans. At the same time, Bepza expressed interest in setting up factories in economic zones. Bepza agreed to this.
Sky Bees Limited will set up a factory on a two-acre site in Bepza Economic Zone, Mirsrai. For this purpose, the company signed an agreement with Bepza authorities on Thursday.
