2 children drowned in Gaibandha

In separate incidents in Gaibandha, 2 children died on the same day after drowning in two upazilas. Among them, a child named Mawa Akter (2) died after drowning in the water of agricultural land in Sadullapur upazila.
On the other hand, another 18-month-old child, Abu Saeed Mia, died after drowning in the water of the pond while visiting various houses in Sundarganj upazila.
It is known that Mawa Akhter drowned in the water on the north side of the BRAC office of Bajit village under Jamalpur Union of Sadullapur Upazila on Thursday afternoon.
She is the daughter of Monaid Mia (Gatu) of that village.
Relatives said that at that time Mawa was playing in the yard of Aktar’s house. In the meantime, he disappeared without everyone’s knowledge. At one stage of the search, the body of the child was found floating in the water of the land next to the house.
Jamalpur Union Parishad (UP) Ward No. 2 member Samant Kumar Sarkar confirmed the poisoning.
On the other hand, another 18-month-old child, Abu Saeed Mia, died after drowning in the pond while visiting various houses in Sundarganj upazila of the district.
The incident took place in Ujan Bochagari village of Chandipur Union of the upazila on Thursday afternoon.
Abu Saeed is the son of Bakul Mia of Sighadia village of Kanchibari union.
Relatives said that a few days ago mother Shilpi Begum came to visit her father Rafiqul Islam’s house in Ujan Bochagari village with her 18-month-old child.
On Thursday afternoon, mother Shilpi Begum was cooking with baby Abu Saeed in the courtyard. Suddenly, without everyone’s knowledge, Abu Saeed fell into the water of the pond next to the house while playing. Meanwhile, the family started searching for him. At one point, he was seen floating in the water in the pond. Then the relatives rescued the dead child Abu Saeed.
Chairman of Chandipur Union Parishad. Mehdi Mustafa Masum confirmed the matter and told CNBangladesh that a child named Abu Saeed died after drowning in the water of the pond. Parents need to be aware to avoid such incidents.
