Regarding this meeting, Andriy Yermark, the head of Ukraine’s presidential office, told a radio station on Friday, “The talks in Saudi will not be very pleasant.” Ukraine’s presidential office said last week that Kiev will host a session and officials from 40 countries will attend.

“We have a lot of disagreements,” Yermark said. We know the location of many. It is important to let them know our policies. Our main task is to unite everyone on behalf of Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, which is still ongoing. After that war broke out between the two neighboring countries. Russia’s attempt to capture Kiev was thwarted, but they took control of much of eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian forces are currently fighting to recover them.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the state news agency of Saudi Arabia, reported the purpose of the meeting in Jeddah on Friday, saying that the meeting is for Saudi experts to contribute to solving the problem and creating a lasting peace. Beijing has been supporting Moscow since the Russian invasion. Because of this, the West supporting Kiev has been criticizing the country’s leadership. An informal meeting was held in Copenhagen last June to end the Ukraine-Russia war. However, no official statement was issued after the meeting. The Jeddah meeting is also being conducted on that model. Officials from Russia’s close allies India and South Africa will also be present.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Saudi Arabia on Friday for the meeting. The President of Ukraine congratulated the officials of the developing countries who will participate in the Jeddah meeting. “This meeting is very important,” Zelensky said. Because the issue is related to food safety. The fate of millions of people in Africa, Asia and other continents of the world depends on it. Because, the sooner this problem is resolved, the better for everyone.’
