The US Embassy and the Australian High Commission have instructed the citizens of their respective countries to be cautious about the programs of the political parties ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The US Embassy has warned its citizens to be vigilant as Bangladesh’s parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held on or before January 2024. Meanwhile, various political parties have started rallies and election-oriented activities. Political rallies and other activities are likely to increase as elections approach. US citizens should remember that peaceful events can turn into conflict or violence at any time. In such a situation, the embassy advises US citizens to avoid large gatherings and protests and move with caution.

In addition, citizens are advised to have their own security plan, awareness of the surroundings and keep an eye on the local media. It is also advised to keep a mobile phone with you at all times for emergency communication.

Meanwhile, the Australian High Commission has said in a travel warning that various political activities including protests and rallies may increase before the national election by January next year. These political activities can turn violent without warning. Because of this, citizens have been advised to avoid protests and gatherings.
