Awami League does not believe in democracy: Mirza Fakhrul
Dhaka/
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “Awami League does not believe in democracy” when asked when Awami League has had a good election since being in power. I am giving elections, there will be good elections – people do not believe their words. Ever elected Awami League in power? The same thing happened in 1973.
He said these things at the unveiling ceremony of the book titled ‘Chir Amar Shahid Zia, Jyotirmoy Khaleda Zia and Diptiman Tarek Rahman’ held at the political office of the Chairperson in Gulshan on Sunday.
BNP chairperson’s advisor professor. Tazmeri S. Islam as president and Prof. Abdul Hasnat Moha. BNP leader Farhad Halim Donor, Obaidul Islam, author of the book Professor AKM Matinur Rahman and others spoke at the event under the direction of Shamim.
In response to Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader’s statement regarding the visa policy, Mirza Fakhrul said, “Let’s see if you also do the visa policy now.” It is not a question of visa policy. The question is the question of your conscience, the question of the nation’s conscience. It is enough to be accountable to the people. What are people saying? I can’t vote. What are the people saying, torture is happening, tax is being imposed unfairly and money is being taken away. The issue of not getting justice in the courts has come to the fore today.
He said, we go to foreigners. We don’t go to foreigners, sometimes foreigners call us. They want to know how the country is going, what do you want to say? It is natural to ask those who believe in democracy. And the policy of the president of the United States is that he wants to establish democracy in the world. Where there is no democracy; He did not call them to the democratic convention. What they give with sanctions. We feel that our people’s rights are being taken away, people are not being given the right to vote.
BNP Secretary General said, Awami League has destroyed democracy. Then 30 thousand people were shot dead by security forces. There was famine even that day due to their misrule. Could not give food to people. He stole so much that Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani wanted to change the name of Awami League. He said, now don’t call Awami League, name it Bangla Lutpat Samiti. This is Awami League.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “So-called democracy, so-called elections have been running a steam roller on the people of Bangladesh for 14-15 years. Now a new wave has been raised – they should be there to continue the progress of development and the democratic trend. What development – flyovers, tunnels, nuclear power, metrorail – all these developments? If people’s living standards are not improved, if their food security is not there, if their income is not guaranteed, if employment is not created; Where can I call it development? Today the country’s economy is broken.
He also said that even though newspapers are controlled, they sometimes write many things.
Mirza Fakhrul said, today the people of Bangladesh are deprived of the right to vote. Which election was held in 2014? Get angry if you say it again. You say, I have to retract my statement, apologize. It’s not me. In the 2014 elections, there were no people in the center, no voters; There are only dogs. For that, the late Shafiul Alam Pradhan said Kutta Marka election. I just repeated it. There are three clauses in the constitution – no criticism, no speech. It even repealed the Fifteenth Amendment which said no questions asked where the caretaker was. Can you think? They claim that they (Awami League) are a democratic party, a democratic government is what I mean, I will protest, I will not agree with you – this is the first word of democracy. You can fool once or twice, you can’t fool again. Now people are standing.
