Jatiya Party’s Nazrul Islam Babul has become a thorn in the neck of Awami League candidate Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury. The mayoral candidate will be a close fight between these two. As BNP candidate Ariful Haque Chowdhury withdrew, Nazrul Islam Babul is the only rival of Awami League candidate. He can surprise in Sisik election. Because the Islamic movement’s candidate Hafez Maulana Mahmudul Hasan has already left the polling field. The only reason for his departure was the announcement of an election boycott by the Islamic movement in Sylhet and Rajshahi due to the attack on Mufti Faizul Karim in Barisal.

Meanwhile, a review of Sylhet’s voting field shows that instead of the former mayoral BNP candidate Ariful Haque Chowdhury, people from various professions are now talking about Nazrul Islam Babul. As the day of voting is approaching, Babul’s voice is getting louder in the public mind. Apart from this, rumors have spread about the Sylhet 1 seat in the National Assembly election. Because before this, the late former (MP) Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith stood in the elections with the boat symbol of Awami League from abroad in the same manner. After his death, his younger brother, the current government’s (MP) foreign minister, won that seat. AK Abdul Momen too. There is speculation among the local Awami League leaders and activists. The oppressed leaders and activists in the field lost the Sylhet 1 seat in the National Assembly election due to expatriates. This time they lost the field of Sylhet City Corporation. Inside, they burn to ashes in the pyre fire. They are not retreating. However, it is also true that Awami League candidate Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury is busy campaigning in the polling field trying hard to win their hearts. It is needless to say which way it will turn in the end.

On the other hand, several top leaders of Sylhet BNP and Islami Andolan, who did not want to be named, confirmed that they have given advance warning to their party leaders and workers not to come to the polling station to vote. There is considerable doubt about the percentage of votes cast in the Sisik election. If this tripartite party unites then there will undoubtedly be tension in the polls.
