BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that the issue of ‘non-partisan caretaker government is not dead, but now live’. He said, Bangladesh has been put in extreme danger by this government. That is why we are saying again and again, there is no reason for this government to exist now. However, the government ministers said that the caretaker government is now a ‘dead issue’.

BNP Secretary General said these things in a discussion meeting on Saturday (June 10) in response to such statement of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on caretaker government’s ‘dead issue’. This discussion meeting was held on the occasion of the first death anniversary of Gautam Chakraborty, the founder convener of the organization, at the initiative of Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Front at Dhaka Reporters Unity Auditorium in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Welfare Front Chairman Bijan Kanti Sarkar and General Secretary Tarun Kumar presided over the discussion meeting, General Secretary Subrata Chowdhury, Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Welfare Front Adviser Professor Sukomal Barua, Tapan Chandra Majumder, Sushil Barua, Vice Chairman Arpana Roy, Nitai. Chandra Ghosh, Ramesh Dutta, late leader’s son Gaurav Chakraborty and many others spoke.

BNP Mahasabi said the government should resign at this moment. Even after doing so much theft and corruption, they could not solve a single problem. So the government has to take the responsibility of the caretaker. He alleged that the government systematically destroyed the voting system. Because, they know that they will not get more than 10% of the votes in the parliament if there is a fair and free election.

He said that the people of the country have seen the elections in 2014 and 2018. There is no question of going back to that place again. In 18 Sheikh Hasina called us for dialogue. We thought that if a situation is created through discussion, we can hold an impartial election, then maybe we can reflect the wishes of the people.

They cannot be trusted-
Fakhrul said that the Law Minister said in the Parliament that when the elections are going on, the Election Commission will have the power that no one can be arrested. Who will believe this? He said, we have confessed to cheating twice. Third time the people of this country will not accept the deception. So the government must resign.

The country’s economy is underground-
Fakhrul said, international reports say that the entire system of Bangladesh has now gone underground. Even from exports, dollars are not coming back. It is very difficult to match the number of export receipts with the number of export shipments. The central bank of Bangladesh is now insisting that it will clear any LC of at least $3 million, which will be another burden on trade. Arkhat economy is already underground. The only reason for this is the unprecedented corruption of this government.
