Bangladesh national election ‘internal’ matter: Vedanta Patel
Online Desk/
The United States has commented on the upcoming national elections of Bangladesh as ‘internal, domestic elections’. The country does not want to comment on the upcoming national elections of Bangladesh.
Vedanta Patel, the deputy spokesperson of the US State Department, said this at a regular press conference on Monday (May 2) local time.
He said, “As it is an internal, domestic election, I have nothing more to say beyond that.”
Another party in Bangladesh refused to participate in the national elections and may later claim it was an “unfair and unfair election,” he said when asked what the United States would do.
As it relates to elections, the US wants them to be free and fair and reflect the will of the people of Bangladesh, Patel said.
He further said, ‘The United States and Bangladesh celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations last year and we look forward to deepening this relationship.’
Patel said Dhaka and Washington have several areas where there is potential for greater cooperation and engagement – be it climate change, economy, humanitarian crisis management or any other issue.
