Upazila Parishad Chairman Abdul Latif Pradhan cut and threshed the paddy of a poor Nirupaya farmer in Gobindganj of Gaibandha.

Rezaul Haque, a farmer of North Pogail village of Nakai Union of Upazila, could not cut the paddy even when it ripened due to high wages due to the labor crisis. Upazila Parishad Chairman cut and threshed rice on 65 percent of the farmer’s land in the Magura bill of North Pogail village on Saturday (April 29) morning. Leaders and activists of Upazila Chhatra League, Jubo League and Awami League were with him.
Farmer Rezaul Haque said, I cultivated boro rice on the land. The yield is also good this time. Even though the paddy of the field was ripe, I could not cut it due to labor shortage. I was worried when the Kalbaisakhi storm would damage the rice. I went to the field in the morning and saw a group of people cutting paddy with scissors. I went closer and saw the chairman of the upazila also cutting paddy. I was surprised to see the chairman. The chairman cut and threshed the paddy and delivered it to the house. Now I am safe.

Chairman of Gobindganj Upazila Parishad and President of Upazila Awami League, Md. Abdul Latif Pradhan said, “On the instructions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we have been cutting farmers’ paddy with scissors for a few days with party people.” In his continuation we learn that the poor farmer Rezaul is not able to harvest his paddy. Today his paddy was cut and delivered home. We will work in any crisis of people. With this promise, I am cutting the paddy of the helpless poor farmers of the area. I think it is our responsibility to stand by every farmer in this difficult time.
