Govt grants to film production to be increased: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the grant money for cinema will be further increased. He said, “The reality is that 25 lakh rupees is not enough for a movie. Presently 25 lakhs is paid for full length films and 20 lakhs for short films. It is much less. I believe that a good film can be made with a good budget. Therefore, in the future, the government grant for the production of movies will be increased.
He said these things while addressing the chief guest at the National Film Award-2021 ceremony at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Thursday.
Referring to the global recession, the Prime Minister said in the event, “The economic recession has been created during the corona virus and the price of everything has increased due to the Ukraine-Russia war. Inflation has skyrocketed. The grant given by the government there at the moment is not enough to make a full-fledged film. This grant should be increased further.
Mentioning that a movie can change people’s lives, the prime minister said to the young generation, ‘I have seen that everyone has a different talent and thinking power. Has an artistic and artistic talent. Through them lifelike movies are made, they attract people. A movie can change a person’s life, can change society. Attention should be paid to making such movies.’
He said, ‘Despite many limitations, everyone in the film industry is working hard, I applaud everyone for this.’
