A man named Nurul Amin (60) has been accused of beating his three brothers to death in Tahirpur of Sunamganj.

On Thursday (January 19) around 8:30 in the morning, the incident of murder took place in Sreepur village of the upazila in the center of construction of a new residence.

The deceased is son of deceased Tahir Ali of Sreepur village of Dakshin Sreepur union of Nurul Amin upazila.

Tariqul Islam Tayan, the younger son of the deceased, said that my grandfather Tahir Ali died about 15 years ago, leaving two wives and six children in his homestead in Sreepur village of the upazila. After the death, the children of the two wives often quarreled over the division of the ancestral home.

On Thursday morning, my younger uncle Shah Paran went to demolish the old homestead to build a new homestead. After that, my three uncles Nurul Haque, Shah Alam, Shahjahan and their family members prevented me from building a house.

When my father went to assist in building a house for my younger (step brother) uncle Shah Paran, my own three uncles and their family members got together and beat my father severely and injured him. Later, neighbors took him to Tahirpur Upazila Health Complex in an injured state, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Syed Iftekhar Hossain, OC of Tahirpur Police Station, said that the police operation is ongoing to arrest those involved in the murder.
