Dream Metrorail is now a reality. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the metro rail on Wednesday. Along with that, Bangladesh entered a new era of public transport system.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina mentioned that Bangladesh has achieved four milestones with the inauguration of Metrorail.

He said, they are-

1. Metrorail itself is a milestone.

2. The country has entered the era of electric trains through Metrorail.

3. Metrorail will be operated digitally, thus it is part of Smart Bangladesh.

4. Bangladesh entered the era of high-speed trains through Metrorail.

On the occasion of the inauguration of the Metrorail, the Prime Minister said this at the Sudhi rally organized at the Sector 15 ground of Uttara on Wednesday around 12:30 PM.

Before that, he unveiled the much-awaited Metrorail plaque at 11 o’clock. Bangladesh Television (BTV) broadcast live the Sudhi Rally and Inaugural Ceremony.

In the rally, the Prime Minister said, “I was able to give another feather to the development and progress of Bangladesh, this is a big thing.” Metrorail has been done by spending a lot of money. It is everyone’s responsibility to save this metrorail. He urged everyone to be careful in using the Metrorail so that nothing gets wasted.

He said, I am grateful to all the people for giving the opportunity to govern the country by voting for Awami League.

Sheikh Hasina said, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave the gift of independent Bangladesh. Salutations to all those who jumped into battle and won the victory.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader gave a speech before Sheikh Hasina.

Pointing out that the country is moving forward under the opportune leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, “Today is a very happy day, a day to fulfill a long-standing dream of the people of the capital.” Another feather was added to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s success through the inauguration of Metrorail.

He said, as long as the moon and the sun rise in Bengal, birds sing, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib’s name will not be erased from Bengal.

On Wednesday around 1:30 PM, the Prime Minister bought a ticket from Uttara Station No. 5 of the capital. Then he punched the card and climbed to the third floor of the station. The first train leaves the station when the green flag flies there. Then at half past two in the afternoon, the Prime Minister boarded compartment number 2. Then the train leaves Uttara North Station for Agargaon. And through this, Metrorail officially started running. The train reaches Agargaon at 2:10 PM.

At this time, more than two hundred passengers accompanied him. On the first journey, the Prime Minister was accompanied by brave freedom fighters, school college and madrasa students, imams of mosques, garment workers, rickshaw drivers, vegetable sellers, representatives of minority communities, businessmen and important government officials.
