Lutfur Rahman (Uzzal): Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Md. Ashraf Uddin visited the under-construction Machang house gifted by the Prime Minister to the landless and homeless on the occasion of Mujib Centenary in Jamchari Union of Bandarban Sadar Upazila.

On Monday (October 31), he went to Jamchari Union of Bandarban Sadar Upazila and visited the Machang Ghar under the construction of fourth phase.

Meanwhile,He expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the construction work of the Machang houses.

Later,Chittagong divisional commissioner said to the Journalist that,the house construction of the shelter project is going on in the same design in Bandarban district like the rest of the country.

However,in view of the appeal of the Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban,Machang houses are being built in the hill district in accordance with the tradition and culture of the hilly areas.

At This Time,Deputy Commissioner Yasmin Parvin Tibriji said,based on the needs of the local people and the opinion of the local representatives,The proposal to build these Machang houses was sent to the Prime Minister’s office.

Responding to this proposal,A delegation from the Prime Minister’s office after visiting Bandarban took into consideration the feasibility of constructing Machang Ghar and approved the matter.

Deputy Commissioner said that the initiative of constructing machang houses instead of semi-paka houses for the small ethnic groups is being appreciated by all,The people of remote areas in Bandarban prefer machang houses to semi-paka houses.

It can be used to store daily necessities including rearing of domestic animals under Machang throughout the year.

Disaster-tolerant and environment-friendly, these Machang houses have unlimited opportunities for light and air movement.

Meanwhile,Deputy Director of Local Government Department Md.Lutfur Rahman,Civil Surgeon Dr.Nihar Ranjan Nandi,Sadar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Sajia Afroz,Executive Magistrate Rajib Kumar Biswas,Sadar Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md.Jahangir Alampah,local public representatives and Senior officers of Various Department were present.

Same Day (31 October) Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Md.Ashraf Uddin visited Bandarban Sadar Upazila Executive Officer’s office and Upazila Land Office. Senior officials including Deputy Commissioner Yasmin Parvin Tibriji were present at this time.Upazila Executive Officer Shajis Afroz welcomed the Divisional Commissioner with flowers at Sadar Upazila office.
