Nazrul Islam, Joypurhat: Two friends named Tanmoy (16) and Sanjit (16) were drowned while immersing idols in Chota Jamuna River in Chakshyam area of​Joypurhat Sadar Upazila. The accident happened on Wednesday afternoon. Their house is in Shantinagar area of Joypurhat town.

Warehouse Inspector Mohiuddin of Joypurhat Fire Service confirmed this information and said that a team of divers has left from Rajshahi to rescue the missing persons. He also said that the missing Tanmoy and Sanjit went to the Chota Jamuna river to bathe the idol on Wednesday afternoon. They fell into the river while playing the drum and disappeared. On receiving the information, Joypurhat Fire Service went to the spot and searched the river but could not rescue them. Later the help of Rajshahi Fire Brigate was sought. Missing Tanmoy and Sanjith were HSC examinees.
